STOCK SALE.

AT FRANKTON YARDS.

QUOTATIONS FIRM. GOOD DEMAND FOR PIGS. There was a large attendance at the weekly stock sale held at the Frankton yards yesterday. Cow and heifer beef was eagerly sought after, and the quotations were on a par with the previous week's rates. Pigs were yarded in large numbers and created brisk bidding. The table given below shows the comparison between this and last week's quotations:—

Farmers' Auctioneering Company. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report having held the last sale of the year in the Frankton yards yesterday, when they had a good entry of fat cattle and sheep. Competition was keen for light prime ox beef, all classes selling well up to late quotations. Fat sheep sold at the previous week's quotations; all classes of fat and store pigs sold well up to late rates. Quotations: —Heavy fat steers, £l3 to £l4 19s; lighter fat steers, £l2 10s to £l3; nine extra choice light prime steers, on account o T f Mr H. S. Hawkins, averaged £l2 4s; pen of heavy steers, on account of Mr Wm. Willoughby, Kaipaki, averaged £l4 14s; heavy fat cows, £9 lis to £lO 16s; lighter, £8 10s to £10; fresh-condi-tioned, £6 Is to £7; store cows, £5 10s; fat wethers, 30s to 31s 3d; forward store wethers', 27s 9d to 28s lOd; fat ewes, 23s 6d; fat lambs, heavy 29s to 30s 9d, lighter 27s sd; vearling Jersey heifers, £4 2s 6d to £4 7s 6d; yearling steers, £4 2s 6d; bulls, £5 10s; spring heifers, close to profit, £7 15s to £8 15s; backward, £6 15s to £7 10s. Pigs.—Heavy baconers, £2 17s to £3 3s; medium, 2s lid to £2 15s; heavy porkers, £2 5s to £2 9s; medium, £2 to £2 4s; slips, 22s to 265; weaners, 8s to 17s; bobby calves, 10s to 14s.

Dalgety and Co., Ltd. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton Saleyards yeserday, as under: — There was a fairly large yarding of beef. Light steers sold at equal to 40s per 1001 b; prime young cows at 38s; ordinary and second quality cows, £7 7s 6d to £9 ss; vealers, 27s 6d to £2 Bs. There was a small entry of store cattle and prices were unchanged. There was a large yarding of sheep. Only a few pens of fat ewes yarded. These sold at 23s 6d to 25s 6d; heavy prime store wethers made up to 325; light wethers, 30s; unfinished wethers, 26s 9d to 28s 9d; Ijeavy spring lambs, 30s 9d; small and medium weight spring lambs, 25s to 27s 9d. There was a medium yarding of fat and store pigs, which sold at firm late xates. Heavy baconers, £3 to £3 Is; good baconers, £2 9s to £2 13s; lighter, £2 to £2 ss; good porkers, £1 16s to £1 19s; lighter, £1 lis to £1 13s; best slips, 25s to 28s; best weaners, 14s 6d to 21s 6d; others, 8s to 12s.

N.Z. Loan and Mercantile. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd.,' Hamilton, report.—At the Hamilton sale on Tuesday beef was penned in larger numbers than usual, and sold under a steady demand throughout. Good quality light to medium-weight steers showed an increase in values, and good cows and heifers fully maintained late rates. A fairly large entry of sheep, mostly wethers, realised recent values. There was little enquiry for the small offering of store cattle and dairy cows. We quote:—Fat steers, £l4 5s to £l4 10s; fat cows and heifers, £8 14s to £10; lighter do., £7 5s to £8 7s 6d; plain fat cows, £6 12s 6d to £7; good veal calves, £3 15s to £4 ss; lighter do., £2 5s to £3j empty cows in forward condition, £5 19s to £7 4s; dairy cows, £7 15s to £8 10s; fat wethers, £1 lis to £1 i3s; light Southdown do., £1 10s; light fat lambs, £1 5s 3d to £1 7s. Pigs.— Heavy baconers , £2 17s to £3 is; light do. and heavy porkers, £2 8s to £2 14s; porkers, £1 16s to £2 2s; stores, £1 5s to £1 10s; slips, 18s to £1 2s; weaners, 7s to lis.
