Beef: Medium weight prime steers, £l3 10s to £l3 12s 6d; lighter, £ll to £ll 15s; prime heavy' cows, £lO 8s to £lO 19s; other heavy cows, £9 17s to £lO 4s; medium weights, £8 7s_to £9 15s; plain cows, £6 6s to £7 ss; store steers, 3 and 4 years, £9 ss; good quality 2 to 2J-year steers, Hereford Gross, £8 11s to £8 17s; younger, £7 11s to £8 2s; 2-year Jersey cross steers, £6 8s to £7 15s; extra choice 18-mths Jersey heifers sold to £8 10s; fair, £5 7s to £5 12s; Jersey cross heifers, 12 to 18 months, £4 12s to £4 17s 6d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd, Te Kuiti, reports holding its fortnightly sale at Te Kuiti. The Christmas slackening in the yarding was marked, but prices were well maintained. Quotations: Fat hoggets (woolly) 37s 3d, woolly ewes and lambs 44s 2d, fat cows £6 10s to £7 17s, fighter conditioned £4 5s to £6 ss, three-year store bullocks £9 9s, yearling Jersey-cross heifers £6, Shorthorn heifers £4 8s to £4 11s, yearling steers £5 12s 6d, mixed colours £4 5s to £5 ss, two-year Jer-sey-cross bulls £4 17s 6d, Hereford bulls £7. Dairy cows sold well—• Springing heifers £7 5s to £9, cows £l3 5s to £ls. TIRAU SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering : Company, Ltd., report having held their Tirau sale on Thursday, 6tn. instant., when a medium yarding was penned, Beef and store cattle showing an easier tendency.
