(Melbourne) At Leichardt Stadium Merv Williams defeated Gordon Kiely, on points, in 15 rounds. At Melbourne Stadium Dick Congress outpointed George Hyland in a 15-round bout. .BILLIARDS. LONDON, Dec. 9. Smith on Friday took his unfinished break: of 1000 to 1041, and also made breaks of 808 and 113. Lindrurn made five breaks of over 100 in the big billiard match.
TENNIS. MELBOURNE, Dec. 9. In the finals of the Victorian tennis championships Crawford defeated Hopman, 5—7, 6—2, 6—3, 6—■ J. Crawford and Hopman easily defeated Dunlop and Donohue (New South Wales), 6—2, 6—l, 6—3. In the women’s singles Miss Cox (New South Wales) beat Mrs Harper (Victoria), 6—B, 6—-1, 7 —5. In the women’s doubles Mrs Conway and Miss Cox (New South Wales) bea’t Misses Mercer and Le Mesurier (South Australia), 6—2, 6—2. NEW YORK, Dec. 8. The executive committee of the United States Lawn Tennis Association to-day postponed until February definite action on the application for the reinstatement of W. S. Tilden as an amateur. _______
