ENTERTAINMENTS.
THEATRE ROYAL. A picture measures its greatness according to its theme, and as the theme of "Mons" is patriotism, it ranks right in front among the classics of the screen. Made in England by Englishmen, the new picture, which Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is distributing in Australia and,New Zealand is now screening at the Theatre Royal. It is an inspired piece of marvellous realism with '•very actor having army service to his credit Under the direction of Captain Walter Summers, D.S.O-, M.C., M.M., nothing like it has been seen before by motion picture audiences. STRANO * FRANKTON THEATRES. The celebrated French author, Alfred Savior, has again given Adolphe Menjou an opportunity to rise to greater histrionic heights. "His Tiger Lady," which is an , adaptation from the author's "Super of the Gaiety" is Menjou's starring vehicle this time, and it marks the second time that Menjou has done a story by Savior, the first being- "The Grand Duchess and the % Waiter," which was such an outstanding success. More than fort} trained police dogs appear in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's "Under the Black Eagle," a thrilling romance of Central: Europe, now showing as the second' picture in this programme. MR FRED BURKE. This well-known and world-travelled orator, will deliver an address in Pearson's Kali, Hamilton East, this evening. His subject will be "The Failures and Fallacies of Prohibition." PROHIBITION IN AMERICA. To-night, in the Town Hall, Pastor A W. Anderson will answer the much discussed question, "Has Prohibition been, a success or a failure- in America'.'" Mr Anderson has a world-wide reputation as orator, scholar, and journalist. REGENT BALLROOM. '"*" i Wednesday will be a big night for patrons of the popular Regent Ballroom, when the annual plain, fancy and poster hall will take place. Prizes are being awarded for best costumes in each section. At 10.30 p.m., the popular dance band (Ihe Regent Band), will be specially augmented by-several instruments, which will combine as .he big band until 1 p.m. As on previous big nights, a specially attractive and- .dainty*. Clipper will be provided. Joy'jazz, fun and frivolity will reign supreme at the Regunt-on Wednesday.
