£125 FOR REPORT. OFFENDER LISTENS TO DEBATE. AUCKLAND, Friday. Seated in the front row of a crowded public gallery, Robert William Gunter, smiling and neatly dressed heard the City Council debate for over an hour last evening the circumstances connected with a report supplied by him to Hie tramways department, and which, fortified with imposing eredenlials, earned for him a fee of £125. The subject was raised by a notice of motion by Mr W. H. Murray, who sought details of Gunter's business relationship with the department. in reply, tlie chairman of the Tramways Committee, Mr J. A. C. AUum. made a Jrunk confession that “ a clever criminal had imposed upon the council.’’ and his explanation was accepted and the incident closed after a protracted debate.
