ENTERTAINMENTS

THEATRE ROYAL. Tohn Gilbert plays the exceedingly eventful role of Prince Danilo in "The Merry Widow," Mctro-Goldwyn-Mayer reproduction of the famous musical comedy-drama that captivated a million hearts some time ago. This picture is one of the really big screen events of the year, and will be shown again* to-night at the Theatre Hoyal. The original score of music is played -it each presentation, so lovers of those haunting melodies thoroughly enjoy the story of Sally, an obscure little dancing girl, melting the heart of a romantic young Prince, his sadly jilting her, her dramatic marriage, her widowhood, her sensational sUy in Paris and all the rest of the intriguing story. A very talented cast will support Gilbert in the presentation of the "Widow," including Mae Murray.

STRAND THEATRE. MAN WHO CATS GLASS. An extraordinary turn was provided at the Strand Theatre last night by Sidnev Dan, a young man who does the most amazing things. He took a thick iron bar in his mouth and bent it easily, allowed a big piece of concrete to be broken on his chest, tore a pack of cards across with case, ate a glass tumbler as though he enjoyed it, and finally extricated himself from a straitjacket in less than a minute. It was a novel turn, and Sidney Dan was loudly applauded. The picture nortion of the programme was very entertaining, being headed by Dorothy Gish in "Tip Toes." This is the merry tale of Tip-Toes, a poor little dancer, who arrived in London, called herself Miss Van Rennsaleer, and then changed her name for good, better or worse when Lord William proposed! Will Rogers and Nelson Keys head Dorothy Gish's supporting cast. MALE CHOIR. A meeting of those interested in the formation of a Male Choir will be held to-night, at 8 o'clock, in the Frankton Railway Social Hall.
