N.Z. ACCOUNTANTS.

THE ANNUAL MEETING. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. After a lapse of 16 years the annual meeting of the New Zealand Society of Accountants was held yesterday, the president, Mr Ernest W. Hunt, of Wellington, presiding over an attendance of nearly 100 .delegates, representative of all parts of the Dominion. The membership stood at 1820, an increase of 13 on the previous year, Mr Hunt said the finances of the society were on an extremely satisfactory basis. The accumulated fund had been built up to £5192, while the benevolent fund was in credit to the extent of £6255, to which the council had that day approved the passing of an additional £750 from the accumulated fund. There was also an educational reserve of £SOO. It had been decided to build up the benevolent fund to £IO,OOO. The election of council members resulted as follows: —Mr A. M. Seaman (Auckland), Mr W. H. Irvine (Poverty Bay), Mr Hugh Baily (Taranaki), Mr T. Anton (Wellington), Mr W. E. Best (Canterbury), and Mr James Hogg (Otago). The only contested district was Wellington, from the representation of which Mr C. M. Bowden retired owing to his transfer from •Wellington. .
