The conference of the Great Western, London-Midland, ScottishjliOndon, Northeastern and Southern railway companies, with the National tUnion of Railwaymen, the Railway Clerks' Association and the Society of and Firemen resulted in the [employees accepting a wages reduction of 2* per cent., involving (£2,000,000. Directors offer to parrtioipate in the reduction. Mr J. 11. Thomas says it is a great settlement and a triumph for commonisense.
