TAUPIRI.
Kitchen Evening. At the Taupiri Mission Hall on July 21 a farewell social and kitchen evening was tendered to Miss Lorna Button by the members of the Church and Bible Class, on the occasion of her approaching marriage.
There was a large attendance whicn in itself bore testimony to the high esteem in which Miss Button is held in the district. The evening was spent in games, etc. Rev. Rimmer and Mrs Rimmer rendered a duet, and Miss Buss a song, which were much appreciated. A pleasant interlude took place when Mr Silvester called upon the guest of the evening to accept the many gifts on behalf of those present. They were duly opened, and proved to be most varied and useful. On behalf of the members of the Church, Mr Silvester asked Miss Button to accept a dining-room clock as a token of esteem, and from the Young People's Bible Class, an oxidised crystal lined fruit-stand. Miss Waring, on behalf of the Girl's Hockey Club presented Miss Button with a ' handsome fern bowl. Mr Law, on behalf of Miss Button thanked the company for their gifts and kindness. Miss Button also responded. Supper was then handed round, and the singinte of Auld Lang j Syne terminated a veryXplcasant evening.
