ASSOCIATION.
BROWN SHIELD. (By "Lex.") Ouite a commotion has been caused in North Auckland circles over their challenge for the Brown Shield, and to their attempt to stampede the South Auckland Football Association and the New Zealand Football Association into forcing the holders to play in Hamilton to-day. However, the secretary' of the N.Z.F.A., Wellington, rang through to Hamilton on Wednesday, in an endeavour to arrange the fixture, but the South Auckland F.A. declined to entertain the proposal and re-arrange the dale at such short notice. Eventually \ugust'2s was decided upon by the NZ V \ and the local Association, and it only remains now for the North Auckland Football Association to agree to these proposals. There appears to bo a bit of unnecessary keenness about the match, as the North Auckland Football Association asked for a neutral referee tor the frame, Mr Albert I'arkenson, of Auckland, being appointed, an appointment which is quite acceptable to the South Auckland Association.
