WOMEN BROKERS.
WALL STREET INVASION. DOING BIG BUSINESS. A broker's office operated by women for women has been opened in New York, thus creating a new era in the history of finance. The office owes its inception to the great bull market which has attracted thousands of investors among women who previously never concerned themselves with stocks and shares. Readers of The Daily Mail have already been told striking incidents of the new market; how some women have pawned their jewels as a means to speculate and how insistently they have invaded brokerage offices both in Wall-street and in the more fashionable parts of the city. Many houses which, it seems, will soon be considered old-fashioned dislike women clients, arguing that they take their losses badly and axe not too well acquainted with figures. But, apparently, all Arms do not hold this view. Ticker Tape and Comfort. The new office controlled by a woman with fourteen years' experience in Wall-street is already reported to be doing a large business. The "board" girl, who is described as the first in that line of business, is a graduate of Cornell University. The office has its ticker tape, many telephones, and full accommodation for its speculating customers, with just that added touch of refinement which indicates that women are in control. The new head explained the enterprise by saying: "It seems that we are about to be recognised in a more friendly manner. Both in the Government and the banking world we have official recognition. Now Wall-street has surrendered." Speaking of her customers, she said, "Surely the head that budgets a household is capable of learning the intricacies of stocks and bonds." Once again American women have entered a new field of endeavour. He does not know American women who would prophesy anything but a successful career for these pioneers.
