THE RECENT FLOODS.
COMMUNICATION RESTORED. TRAINS AGAIN RUNNING. Railway communication between Te Aroha and Pacroa, which had been broken since Tuesday morning as a result of the heavy floods in the vicinity of Mangaiti, was re-established last evening. Services will be resumed under practically normal conditions to-day. With a continuance of fine weather the Hood waters subsided steadily and yesterday morning no more than covered the rails. It was found that no serious scour« ing of the ballast had taken place. RIVER STILL UP. POSITION AT MERCER. The river is the same as yesterday, but should drop from noon to-day, stales an A.A.A. report. The water is 18 inches over the road at the Maungalawhiri Bridge. Horses are available.
The old piece of road at the back of the station is under water about niu® inches deep.
