The committee made its assessment on the foundation of the income of parishes, the members of the comrnittee in Taranaki apportioning the sum for Taranaki parishes. A special meeting of the Waikato members was called in Hamilton and a substantial redaction made for King Country parishes that have heavy annual expenses on their church leasehold property- The assessment was submitted to the Bishop and sent out with his approval. , ~ ••Before Whitsunday, when the Standing Committee met in Hamilton, a meeting was called to consider the financial position, as only about onethird of the £IOBO had then been paid into the office. It was decided to ask the Bishop to write an appeal for Whitsunday, and this appeal with the statement of the quota of the parish and the sum received was sent out. “Much of the committee work has been carried on through correspondence. It was agreed that all money not sent in for any special mission should be allotted to the Melanesian Mission. In 1927 an arrangement was made for the Rev. F. C. Long to visit parishes and for Major Robinson to make a visit in 1928. Mr Long’s offer of help at the close of the year was also accepted. The committee was very grateful for this help from the representatives of the New Zealand Board of Missions and the Melanesian Mission. Appeal Recommended. “The committee recommends that before special collections an envelope he sent out with each Diocesan Magazine and an appeal made to all who cannot attend service on the day to enclose an offering, and either leave it at the church or send it to the Vicar or church officer at an early opportunity.
