ALL HOPE ABANDONED. 164 BODIES RECOVEBED. 33 UNACCOUNTED FOR. (by Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian Prfss Association.) (Received May 24, 8.55 a.m.) NEW YORK, May 23. A message from Mather states that the authorities have abandoned all hope of rescuing any more of the entombed miners alive. It is finally estimated that the number of dead is 197. The bodies of 164 of these have now' been recovered, and 33 are still unaccounted for, hut more bodies are being discovered hourly. Some of these are still limp and war i, and indicate that the victims lived for many hours after entombment.
