DESTRUCTIVE FIRES.

A CHRISTCHURCH OUTBREAK. CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Extensive damage was done by fire early this morning lo the premises occupied by Thomas Rortinvick and Sons (Australasia), Ltd. The fire broke out near a back stairway and the rear portion, comprising typists’ rooms and retiring rooms, was quickly a crackling furnace. The principal damage to the main office downstairs was by smoke and water. The rear portion, however, was considerably damaged.
