“I noticed a complaint the other day from a consumer whose electric power was cut off,” said a bankrupt poultry farmer at a meeting of his creditors in Invercargill recently (says the Southland Times). “Well, I had an even more unfortunate experience. On the advice of a well-known poultry farmer I bought an electric brooder. One stormy night the power was cut off in the small hours, and the chickens died in large numbers. I certainly made a big mistake when I bought the electric brooder in every way, for it cost me £lO Os fd to run for two months.”
