NOTES FROM THE RUNNING. In the Rata Hack Hurdles Mister Gamp was favourite, carrying £BO more than Troilus, while Peneus was next in request. From a straggling start Glengariff. Hymostrason nnrt Rafa were first to show out, but before the stands were reached Hymostrason had taken command from Rafa, Whisogne, Peneus, Ballyfarnon, Glengariff, Peshwa, Troilus and Mister Gamp, Shining Armour having stopped at the second hurdle. Along the back Whisogne and Peneus headed Hymostrason, with Ballyfarnon, Peshwa. Troilus and Our Jack next. However, Hymostrason ran to the front again before the top was reached, and led into the straight from Whisogne, Glengariff, Peneus, Troilus and Mister Gamp, who was coming fast. Hymestrason held off Mister Gamp to win bv two lengths. Glengariff was i head away third, with Ballyfarnon, Troilus, Peneus, Whisogne, Peshwa, Our Jack and Rafa next. Success to the Favourite. Bisox was first fancy and he carried £IOO more than Avro, with Kawhakina next best supported. From a good slarl Resinous led through the straight from Some Lad, Royal Elm and Gasnapper, with Kawhakina last, Along the back Some Lad and Resinous were together, with Royal Acre, Freeze Out, Royal Elm, Bisox, Gasnappcr, Avro and King Mart next. Gasuapper took charge crossing the top, and was first to turn for home from King Mart, Bisox, Flying Shot, Avro, Royal Acre and Some Lad. Bisox then came through and went on to win easily by three lengths from Avro, who beat Gasnapper by a length and a half. King Mart, Flying Shot, Freeze Out, Kawhakina, Royal Acre, Some Lad and Royal Elm followed.

Aberfeldy was favourite, being entrusted with £174 more than Pouri, witli Red Fuchsia a,nd Perk de Leon next best backed. Red Fuchsia led out of the straight from Aberfeldy, Perlc dc Leon, Vexatious, Pouri, Braeman, Matu* and Euchre. Along the back Aberfeldy ran to the front but was soon joined by Perle de Leon, the pair being well clear of Red Fuchsia,' Matu and Pouri. Passing the stands the last time, Aberfeldy was in front from Perle de Leon, Bod Fuchsia, Vexatious, Pouri, Matu and Braeman. Along the back the order was much the same. Grossing the top Red Fuchsia, Aberfeldy and Perle de Leon were racing together, with Pouri, Vexatious and Matu next. Perle de Leon and Red Fuchsia turned for home together, with Pouri, Aberfeldy and Braeman following next. In a good llnish Red Fuchsia beat Perle de Leon by a head, with Pouri three lengths away third. Braeman, Aberfeldy, Matu and Vexatious were in that order next. Success to Puwhero. Tuki was withdrawn from the Grandstand Steeplechase, and the public went for Puwhero, entrusting him with about £2OO more than Peter Maxwell, with Maunga and Mixed Heather best supported of the others. When they reached the stands the first time Puwhero was in front, with Peter Maxwell, Royal Heather, Mixed Heather, Passiu' Through, Polyphemus, Maunga and Son o' Mine next. Puwhero held his position as they crossed the stands double the second Unre from Mixed Heather, Peter Maxwell, Maunga, Passin' Through, Son o' Mine and Risk, Polyphemus having fallen at the first fence of the double. Maunga was nearly down at the fence going out of the straight. Along the back lbs order was Puwhero, Mixed Heather, Maunga. Peter Maxwell, Passin' Through and Son o' Mine. Puwhero was first into tile straight from Mixed Heather, Son o' Mine, Maunga, Peter Maxwell and Passin' Through, and wenl on to win by a length from Mixed Heather, who beat Son o' Mine by three lengths. Royal Damon -and lioromea were withdrawn from Hie Empire Handicap. Glenross was favourite, carrying £320 more than Pailonu, with Blimp and Day Guard next fancied. Day Guard led along the straight from Lin Arlington, Pailonu, Bonogne, Glenross, Blimp and Wanderlust. Along the back Day Guard was attended by Lin Arlington, Bonogne, Partaga, Beaumont and Captain Gazelcy. Across the lop Day Guard was joined by Bonogne, with Lin Arlington, Blimp, Captain Gazelcy, Beaumont, Partaga

and Paitonu l'ollowins'. Bonogne was first*to turn for home from Paitonu, Day Guard, Captain Gazclcy, Glenross and Beaumont.' Paitonu then took charge, and was taking things easily when Day Guard came with a great run and just failed to reach Paitonu by hall' a head. Barry, the rider of Paitonu, nearly handed the race away. Bonogne ww* a length further back third, with Beaumont. Glenross, Black Mint, Captuin G&zeley, Blimp and Lin Arlington next. Mn tasy Win. Simple, Keddar and Rangiutu. There was no change as they crossed the top. Entering the straight, Chelone, Keddar and Callanmore were together, with Fee Simple and Eka next. Keddar then drew out to win by two lengths from Callanmore, who beat Chelone by a nose. Fee Simple, Eka and Rangiutu were the next to finish. Moa Bird's Surprise. Benzora. Boyal Game and Day Guard were not saddled up for the Winter Oats Handicap, leaving a dozen to contest (he concluding event. Tea Time, First Acre and Royal Damon were best backed, while Moa Bird was at a good price. Tea Time and Limited were the early leaders from Covent Garden, Silvermine, Lady's Boy and .Miss Pat. Lady's Boy and Silvermine were the pilots into the straight, with Tea Time, Arrow Lad, Limited and Moa Bird all handy. Halfway down the straight Moa Bird and Arrow Lad challenged, and the former won by two lengths from ArrowLad, who beat Silvermine by half a length. Tea Time was fourth, followed by Covent Garden and Bonogne.
