The Japanese Government continues to take a serious view of t.he situation in China. Official advices indicate that the co-operation between the southern forces is better than was expected. Japan hopes conciliation can be effected, or some truce under the terms of which the Nationalists will not advance north of Tsinan. Three companies of Japanese troops have arrived at Tsinan from Tientsin. Advices from the chief port of Shangtung, Tsingtao, state that the Wcihai of Ihe Chinese naval squadron, with aeroplanes, left there on Friday to launch an offensive on Haichow. about 12b miles south of Tsingtao, in the Kiangsu province.
