A BANKRUPT PEER.
CHARGES OF FRAUD. LORD TERRINGTON IN LONDON. REMANDED WITHOUT BAIL. (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) LONDON, April 21. The bankrupt solicitor, Lord Tcrrington, who has been ill in France, and who was extradited to England, arrived last evening at Folkestone from Boulogne. He walked briskly to a reserved compartment, in the London trains. He was accompanied by a doctor and two Scotland Yard detectives. The journey from Douai was accomplished in easy stages, with an interval for a luncheon of trout and champagne. There were two stops when Lord Tcrrington complained of heart attacks. There was a great crowd when the train entered Victoria Station, hut a was successful. Lord Terrington alighted at the end of the train and went by motor to Moore Lane police station, to which an infirmary is attached. Lord Tcrrington appeared this morning at the Mansion House Police Court on 21 charges of fraudulent conversion. involving £70,000, while acting as a solicitor. lie looked well as lie entered (lie Court, accompanied by Lady Tcrrington (formerly Mrs de vere Humphrey), a doctor and a nurse. After queslions regarding his extradition from France lie was remanded until April 30. Bail was refused, in spite of bis counsel’s assertion that his health was precarious.
