N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION.

CAMBRIDGE BRANCH. THE MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Cambridge branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union was held on Friday. The president (Mr J. Bruce) occupied the chair, and there was a faip attendance of members. In reply to the union’s complaint with regard to the representation allotted to primary producers at the conference, a letter was received from the Minister of Labour pointing out that out of 25 employers’ representatives the farmers of New Zealand have been allotted 15. These’ are made up as follows: Shecpfarmers’ Association five, dairy farmers five,'and Farmers’ Union five. The writer was of the opinion that this was a fair and reasonable allocation. —The letter was received.

Air R. H. Hill, Ivarapiro, wrote tendering his resignation as a member of the branch, which was accepted with regret.

Mr G. Simpson mentioned the fact that although there was a stock inspector resident in Cambridge application had to be made to Hamilton office if the services of the inspector were needed.

The secretary reported that this is a new' system which has lately been adopted. The chairman thought that it would be almost as convenient to get the inspector from Hamilton as from Cambridge. Mr Norman said the change was a backward step as far as Cambridge was concerned.

It was resolved to write to the Director of Agriculture pointing out that the Cambridge district was a large area and there was sufficient, to keep an inspector employed, and asking that steps be taken to have an inspector installed solely for the Cambridge district.

The secretary reported a credit balance at the bank of £36 3s lid. Accounts amounting to £lO 3s were passed for payment.
