DO YOU FORGET?
Are you one of those people who are for ever forgetting? Do you suddenly arrive at your office and find that you cannot remember where you put something you want at once ? It may mean that you are tired. Perhaps you are merely careless. Maybe you allow your mind to run on things that concern yourself instead of concentrating on your work. In either case get rid of the cause of the trouble. Concentrate. Think over everything you have to do before you start out each morning. When you go away at night just glance round and see that all you want is ready to your hand for next day. A wee notebook costs only a penny, and you always have lots of pencils. Keep notebook and pencil in your bag, as well as that powder puff and mirror. Note down all you are likely to forget, and consult your notebook frequently. A good diary costs a little more. But it’s well worth its price. Day by day you have notes of all you are likely to want or have to do, so you can’t forget. Do you offend your friends by telling them you forgot to write, or do the things you promised? They are quite right to feel offended, for forgetting shows indifference. Think of your frends more frequently than of yourself; you won’t forget. Do you tell your employer you have forgotten? That is really an offence against.good taste. You are paid for doing certain things, so you have no right to forget. Think now impossible it would be for any successful business man simply to say that he had forgotten some important detail. He does not do so, for his business is the chief matter in his mind, so he fulfils all important tasks as a mere matter of course. You never forget that party you promised to go to. You never forget to buy a new frock or hat. You don’t forget an appointment with your dance partner. You remember to fix up your holidays. Then why should affairs connected with your daily duties in the place where you are employed slip your memory so easily?
