COMMUNITY LIGHTING.

ACTION BY BOROUGH. SCHEME FOR HAMILTON. The installation of community lighting in the business area of the town has been under consideration by the Hamilton Borough Council for some time. Last night the following recommendation from the Trading Departments Committee was adopted:— That the Council approve the proposal to provide community lighting in the business portion of Victoria Street, subject to satisfactory agreements securing to the Council the recovery of the costs involved, being made in connection with each block to be dealt with, the basis of the charge to be £3 a light or for each 15 feet of frontage, the amounts to be payable yearly in advance, and the lights to be available till 11 p.m.
