WAIKATO RUGBY UNION.
SPECIAL MEETING. MANAGEMENT COMMtTTEE. A speoial general meeting of the Management Committee was held last night, when Mr A. Montgomery presided. The object of the meeting was to confirm the rules of the Waikato Rugby Union. The question of colours for the union was discussed, and it was decided to delete the proposed rule that the union's colours be royal blue and leave the choice to a special committee. It was decided that only delegates and the president of the union should be entitled to vote at any meeting of the union. The secretary and treasurer would not be entitled to vote. The question of the annual subscription was deferred to the annual meeting. r fhe rules governing misconduct of players and officials read as follows: ‘‘in case of alleged misconduct of any player, team or official while under the direct control of this union the management committee shall hold an Inquiry and take such action as it deems advisable within seven days of notification, and the decision of the management committee shall he binding on all affiliated sub-unions.” "Should the management committee have reason to believe that any subunion has failed to make proper inquiry into any case of misconduct or any matter likely to bring discredit upon football, it shall require such sub-union to make or complete the inquiry, and failing compliance with, the request it shall be the duty of the committee to take such action as it may deem fit."
"Where any affiliated sub-union has passed a resolution disqualifying any club, team, player or official for any reason whatever, such resolution shall bo reported to the management committee for the purpose of being made general throughout the jurisdiction of this union, and when any such disqualification is communicated to an affiliated sub-union (and this applies to any disqualification accorded by the management committee of this union) it shall be observed by such subuutons from the date of receipt of ttic advice thereof, whether or not the terms of the disqualifications are in accord with the by-laws of the said sub-union. All such resolutions shall forthwith be reported to the New Zealand Rugby Football Union." The secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union notified that unions were invited to nominate gentlemen eligible for the position of manager of the New Zealand team to tour South Africa next year. It was the intention of the management committee to make the appointment towards the end of the year.—The meeting was unanimously in favour of Mr E. McKenzie, of Wairarapa.
The treasurer reported that the financial position was highly satisfactory: a profit of £lsl 8s 6d was shown on the year’s working. The chairman, in commenting on the financial statement, stated that the position was very creditable. They had started out practically without a penny and were now in a strong position. He thanked all those who had so ably assisted him in his past term of office.
