Childrens Fancy Dress Ball.

The children’s fancy dress ball held in the Palerangi Hall in the interest of the local royal candidates in the forthcoming Plunket carnival, was an undoubted success. The hall was packed with eager, happy little people—and equally happy elderly people, for the parents, especially the mothers, were as keen as the little ones. The great display of pretty fancy costumes was evidence of the interest taken In the affair, and between £8 and £9 is the tangible result of the effort. Mrs Littlewood and Mrs Henwood, visitors from Mangerc, kindly undertook the difficult task of judging, and finally awarded the prizes as follows: Most effective costume, Miss Ivy Norton, Prince Charming, and Master Riece White, Anchor Butter; most original, Bonny llyburn, Frog, and Stan and Russell Lines, Daylight Saving (one representing the town and the other the country). Others in fancy dress were: — Misses D. Hollister, French Maid; E. Spiers, Gipsy Dancer; Isabel McCallum, Rosebud; J. Forbes, English Hose; B. Ryburn, Robin Hood; J. llyburn, Clownette; K. “Bring and Buy” Afternoon.

A “Bring and Buy” afternoon on behalf of the local candidates in the Plunket carnival proved mpst successful, the proceeds being in the vicinity of £ll.

A social evening in furtherance of the same cause will be held next Tuesday night at the residence of Mrs W. G. Macky.
