OKAUIA.

Children's Party. A most enjoyable evening was spent at Waircre House (the residence of Mr and Mrs F. Underwood, Okauia) when Mr and Mrs G. Brindle gave a birthday party in honour of their son Walter, on the occasion of his 2nd birthday. Fully 50 persons were present, including relatives and friends from Auckland and surrounding districts. Members of the Okauia Social Club were also present in full force. The early part of the evening was spent in games, etc., for the entertainment of the juveniles. A dance followed, Mr A. McPhail acting as M.G. A number of elocutionary and vocal items were contributed, and music for dancing was played by Miss Boyd (Auckland) and Mr McPhail (Taihoa). During the evening Mr D. B. Higgins, in a neat speech, proposed the toast of the guest of the evening. Mr C. Brindle suitably responded. A dainty supper was provided by the hostess, and a most pleasant function concluded with the singing of ; 'Auld Lang Syne."
