FIRST-RANK TENNIS.

LATEST NEWS

TEN LEADING PLAYERS. MR MYER’S CLASSIFICATION. NO AUSTRALIANS INCLUDED. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Rec. October 4, 1.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 3. Reviewing tennis players' performances, Mr Wallis Myers in the Daily Telegraph asserts that the world’s first ten are: — Lacoste (France). Tilden (America). Cochet (France). Borotra (France) \ Alonso (Spain) Hunter (United States). Lott (United State). Hennesey (United States). Brugnon (France). Zoleluh (Czechoslovakia). “ The classification ” says Mr Myers, “ is based partly on the results of the Davis Gup matches as well as the three championships, played at Wimbledon, Saint Cloud, and Forest Hills. “ r fhe Australian leaders are omitted, not because their skill does not entitle them to places, but because their return to International tennis has been postponed. Unless I am greatly mistaken. both Australian men and women still figure most prominently in European tennis in 1928.
