AFFAIRS IN SPAIN.
CONFLICTING REPORTS. SEVERE CENSORSHIP IMPOSED. (Australian A N.Z. Gable Assn.) LONDON, October 3. The Daily Mail says news of events in Spain is 'of a conflicting nature. Spanish army officers are believed to have been implicated in the vast revolutionary conspiracy which is said to have been discovered. It is stated that the Spanish Government has crushed the threatened insurrection. In Spanish circles all the reports of the plot are formally denied. Indications of a severe censorship have intensified the position. LATER. AUTHORITIES’ ADMISSION. EXISTENCE OF A PLOT. ITS SIGNIFICANCE MINIMISED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) The authorities admit the plot, to assassinate King Alfonso, but seek to minimise its significance, though they confirm the. arrest and seizure of a large quantity of explosives.
