THEFT AT PUTARURU.
EIGHTEEN charges admitted. COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Eighteen charges of theft and forgery were admitted by Joseph McGovern, aged 45, in the Police Court yesterday. The police evidence was that McGovern had been employed at Putaruru by Mr W. Flanagan, and while there he stole a number of articles, including his employer’s cheque hook, lie Lhen came to Auckland and bought goods from various Arms, tendering valueless cheques to which he had forged Flanagan’s signature. Among other things he had bought a stonecrusher from John Burns, Ltd., paying for it with a forged' cheque for £055. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
