VALEDICTORY.
FUNCTION AT TE AROHA. MR P. WILDE FAREWELLED. At the Courthouse, Te Aroha, on Thursday members of the legal fraternity, justices of the peace, and police assembled and presented Mr P. Wilde, clerk of court, with an oak clock, as a mark of appreciation prior to his departure for Wellington. Mr P. Gilchrist referred in fitting terms to the popularity of the guest. One and all regretted his departure, for he was at all times most courteous and obliging. Mr J. Motley, senior justice, spoke on behalf of the justices of the peace, and Constable Monson on behalf of the police. The Mayor made the presentation, and in doing so voiced the kindly feelings of local associations and the citizens of Te Aroha. Mr Wilde suitably responded. He regretted leaving Te Aroha, where he had formed a large circle of friends. He had been appointed to a similar post at Wellington. He thanked the friends for their handsome present and wished one and aH continued prosperity. (Cheers.)
