ST. PETER’S CATHEDRAL.

SCHEME OF ENLARGEMENT. DECISION OF THE CHAPTER. At a meeting of St. Peter’s Cathedral Chapter the enlarging of the Cathedral was considered. Accommodation at present is inadequate. After the financial position had been discussed it was decided to enlarge the vestry by providing an additional room on the north side, for the use of the clergy, while a ladies’ chapel will be built on the south side of the* Cathedral. It was decided to call tenders for the xvork immediately.

As soon as sufficient money is available the question of enlarging the nave will be considered. The plan will correspond with the original plan of the building.

The plans for the erection of the vestry and ladies’ chapel as submitted by the Chapter were approved by the Standing Committee yesterday, and sanction given for the work to proceed.
