FALL OF NANKING.
CONSIDERED TO BE IMMINENT

A naval wireless message from Nanking says Northern troops have occupied Pukow without opposition. All the Nationalist flags were immediately hauled down.
The foreign warships have moved one mile up the river from Nanking in order to clear the direct line of fire between Nanking and Pukow.
Nationalist gunboats which were recently concentrated for the defence of Nanking have moved three miles... up the Yangtse-kiang River from Nanking. No attempt has yet been made by the Northerners to cross the river.
The fall of Nanking is imminent. It will virtually mean the recovery of Shanghai by the Northerners. The Southerners' line of communication between Shanghai and Nanking has already been pierced.
