(Rcc. April 13, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 12.

A fractured live line caused ah e%‘< plosion, following a fall or the roof a* Wharnciiffe colliery (Barnsby). Fifteen men were entombed, three of whom were found to have been fatally gassed when they were reached after eight hours’ work. Attempts were made to quench tha fire with granite dust. Sir Herbert Smith, the vvell-known industrialist, descended into the mine to assist.
