WAIKATO CENTRAL SHOW

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The general committee of the Waikato Central Agricultural Association met at Cambridge to consider matters in connection with the forthcoming show, to be held on March 2 and 3. The president (Mr J. S. Fisher) occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. Mr T. A. Hicks spoke feelingly in reference to the recent death of Mr John Fisher, father of the president. Mr Hicks said that no one had done mere to further the interests of the association than the late Mr Fisher, and he had also been a g"eat help lo the district by the breeding of his splendid pedigree milking Shorthorn cattle. Mr Hicks mentioned that before Mr Fisher’s death, three generations of that family were closely interested in Lhe association, including the worthy president. Mr Hicks moved that,' the association’s deep regret at the loss of one of its oldest, and most loyal supporters, in lhe death of Mr .John Fisher, be- placed on re-cord, also 1 hat the secretary be instructed lo convey to Mrs Fisher lhe association’s deepest sympathy in her bereavement. The motion was carried members standing in silence. Mr J. S. Fisher feelingly replied. Mr A. McDonald submitted a programme of Highland dancing events, which lie thought would prove an attraction lo the public and competitors. It was resolved that a committee, consisting of lhe President, and Messrs A. E. Calloway and A. McDonald, he appointed to inquire as to the support likely lo he offered and to report to the next meeting. Jl was resolved lo accept the Cambridge Municipal Band’s offer of £lO 10s to supply the musical programme at the show. The New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association asked this association to co-operate with it in making it a condition of entry in the pure bred pig classes that the animals must lie eligible for, or entered in the N.Z. Herd Book. II was unanimously agreed to co-operate with Hie association in the matter and to notify breeders of Hie same. The president reported that Hie work of levelling file ground in readiness for lhe erection of the stock pens was in progress, and it was intended to sow Hie same, in grass next month. It was decided to call tenders for the erection of the pens (labour only) io he lodged with Hie secretary by noon on Friday in readiness for ilie next meeting. Mr n. Wyalt was Heeled a member of Hie grounds committee. The following were duly elected members of Hie association: —Messrs T. Myers, J. Cooper and 11. Mitch.
