FACSIMILE TRANSMISSION

SYSTEM BEING PERFECTED. SAVING IN TIME AND MONEY. (Australian and N.Z. Gable Assn.) LONDON, Jan. 18. The'Marconi, expert, G. M. Wright, is perfecting a system of facsimile telegraph transmission, dispensing with the key tapping operator, thus reducing the possibility of error and saving both time and money. A written or typewritten message is simply placed on a cylinder and is duly- reproduced in facsimile at the receiving station, to which it is dispatched by directional wireless. Marconis say the system is only workable in. conjunction with beam wireless, therefore it will be one of the systems used in tho inter-Empire service. While purely line drawings could be transmitted, the dispatch of halftone pictures is not yet within range.
