WOMAN CONMENDED.
ARREST OF PICKPOCKET. William Graham (29), labourer, was ' sentenced to two months' imprisonment at the Central Police Court, %Sydney, on a charge of being a suspected person. Mrs LMary Parr stated that at noon on December 31 she was waiting at the 'bus rank in Hay Street, and watching monkeys in a doorway. She sawdefendant attempt to pick a man's pocket, and warned the victim. Defendant ran and jumped on a bus. Witness watched him some time, and then gave him in charge. When -sentencing Graham to two months' imprisonment, Mr Camphin, S.M., commended Mrs Parr for her action. Sergeant Napper (police prosecutor) also commended the principal witness. "If civilians assisted the police in such matters," he said, "picking pockets and similar offences would be reduced to a minimum."
