TENNIS COURTS LEASE.

LITTLE FURTHER AHEAD. DIFFERENCE AS TO BEAUTIFYING The position with regard to Ihe lease of the tennis courts from the Domain Board to the Walkalo Tennis Association lias advanced little further since the last meeting of the board. The matter was left in the hands of the Sports Committee which met representatives of the Tennis Association, when Mr A. Swarbrick, chairman of the board, placed a draft copy of some of the terms of the proposed lease in the hands or the association's representatives for perusal and suggestions. Since that time a letter has been received by the board from Mr D. Seymour, on behalf of the association, in which he staled that the association understood.that the chairman was preparing a plan of beautifying the balance of the section not at present devoted lo tennis and the association was awaiting this. Mr Swarbrick explained lo the board last night that the board was not committed in any way and they could do nothing until the copy was returned. Mr Fowler said the association was anxious lo know Ihc extent of. the beautifying required. Mr Swarbrick said the association was simply procrastinating. The beaulincalion was only a small item in the whole scheme. Mr Fowler: i don't agree witli you, sir. Mr Swarbrick: Because you know nothing about il. You were not at the meeting. Mr Fowler: They want to know dcilnilely what they have to do. To undertake an extensive scheme of beautifiealion might entail an enormous expense on thorn. Mr Swarbrick replied that the matter was in the hands of the Sports Committee, and until the draft copy of the terms was returned with the association's suggestions nothing further could be done. Thus was the matter left.
