RUN DOWN BY MOTOR CAR,
While cycling along the Cambridge Road yesterday morning, an elderly resident of Nixon Street. Mr William Powell, was knocked off his machine by a motor car driven by Mr W. J. Howie, of Pukcrimo. Mr Powell received a severe shaking and was severely cut about the face. He was taken to the Waikalo Hospital where his condition is satisfactory.
WELL-KNOWN FARMER INJURED,
A painful accident befel a wellknown Horsham Downs farmer, Mr T. 11. Henderson, on Saturday, when lie sustained a broken collarbone through being thrown heavily to (he ground owing to a ladder on which he stood collapsing. Mr Henderson was repairing fi window in a stable loft iX the time. He is confined to his 1 ome and his progress is satisfactory.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Monday. A motor car without a driver dashed down Durham Street West on Saturday evening and knocked down a Maori named Moaho Tukeno and Mr \V. R. Powley, of Newton, before crashing into a shop window. When the car •was left by the owner the brakes were fully applied. Charles Horace Hooper, aged 67, a commercial traveller at Herno Bay, was proceeding lo Ids work this morning in a tram car, when he had a seizure. He was taken to a doctor's residence, but was dead before iic arrived there. Deceased appeared quite well when he left home.

Vincent James Prosser (58) was discovered dead in bed last evening with one end of a length of garden hose in his mouth, ilic oilier end being attached lo a gas bracket. The deceased had been feeling ill and had remained in bed all day. He leaves a Wife and four children. WANGANUL Sunday.
A man named Mill, employed at Kcmplhornc Prosscr's works, had liis hand caught in a concrete mixer yesterday, severely injuring it. In the Association shield game between Woollen Mills and Workshops, Bobbie It. May, the Workshops player, fractured his right leg below the knee. In the Wanganui Old Boys-Techni-cal Old Boys Hugby contest Blythe had bis forehead badly cut, and Polaka had the misfortune to twist his knee cap severely. Fears are entertained that this injury may prevent Potaka /going on tour with the Maori team. ' The seaman Lancaster, who was gored by a bullock on the wharf last Wednesday evening, grew weaker yesterday and died late in the evening. CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday.
Two motor cars collided in the Rakaia township yesterday. One was overturned and one of [he occupants, Rev. U. Tinsley, of Ashburlon, was cut about the face and head. The other passengers escaped injury.
WAIPAWA, Monday. Francis George Sharpin, aged 48, married with two children, was killed at Hie railway station on Saturday night. Deceased, who was a resident of Walpukurau, was returning from the Hastings races. When passengers were being conveyed to Poi Poi railway Junction after lh» representative footba.ll match at Ohura on Saturday, a motor ear containing five occupants skidded and crashed into the side of a bridge. Mr Churchill, Postmaster at Maliorc, and Mr Edmonds, of Raolilii, was slightly injured. The car w&s badiy damaged.
