TAUPIRI BRANCH
Tlic annual general meeting of tho Taupiri branch or 1 lie Farmers' Union was held on Tuesday. Mr S. V. Bllkcy presided, there being present also: Messrs A. 11. Waring, W. A. Lovcll, J. Old, A. Malcolm, W. Moore, L. Powell, W. A. Powell and J. .1. McNally. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £3 Bs. The out-going president, Mr S. V. Bllkcy, bricily commented upon the past year's activities. While Hie attendances had not been very encouraging, some very important mailers had been dealt with, some of which were dairy control, pig weighing and commission on pigs, and insurance, lie thanked those who had helped towards Hie smooth running of the meetings, as well as for their co-opera I ion. The sports balance-sheet, which was a separate one, showed a balance in hand of £SB 12s.
The next important matter was a presentation lo Mr A. 11. Waring, for his faithful service lo the branch, both as a past president and also as a regular attendant at the meetings. Mr W. Lovcll made the presentation, which consisted of a pipe and case. He said it gave him great pleasure to make the presentation, as Mr Waring had been Ihe means of placing the Taupiri branch on a solid foundation. (Applause.) Mr Waring said he would accept the gift wilh grateful (hanks, as a token of good feeling from the members, lie stressed Ihe I'acl thai if only tin: farmers were united, what, a lot llicj could do, and urged llmm lo greater loyally ami co-opcralion. sidents Messrs W. A. Powell. S. \. I'.ilkey: secretary, Mr .1. Old: executive, all present wilh Ihe addition of Messrs K. Powell and W. Waring; delegate 1.. Union, Mr S. V. Ililkoy. A vole of (hanks lor their work during the pnsl year was accorded to Messrs Bilkcy, .1. Old ami S. li. Silvester. A resolution was passed donating £5 5s towards the Taupiri branch of the Plunkct Society.
