AUCKLAND; Monday. lor Die third aad concluding day, of the Auckland Racing Club's Winter Meeting there wis a UWEC attendance. There wero good-sized fields and some keen racing was witnessed. One of the biggest dividends experienced at. Kllerslio of recent years was .returned when Danac came, home in 'front in Hie York Handicap. Kendal won Ihc chief event over rountry, and tho Whangarci horse (Toarirl scored in • the sprint ite-m of the card. The totaiisator returns for the day were £72,034 10s, against £73,2.1 ji for the corresponding day last year. The figures for the meeting were £242,4322 10's against £2'4i,125 Jast year, an increase of £1197 10s. Victory to Waikato. Pendennis was scratched for the Tamaki Steeplechase, for which there were five runners, Peter Maxwell being made favourite over Grcekson. Sansalino fell at the first fence. Grcekson and llokioi disputed the leadership until the hill doubie was cleared the last time, when the Te Rapa candidate Grcekson headed Hokioi off and won very readily by four lengths from Peter Maxwell, who beat llokioi by thrc- quarters of a length, with Stonewall in fourtlt place. Rangatahi Wins HurUlos. For tli". Orakci Hurdles Wedding .March was the only scratching. Star of the East was made, favourite from Glenidlc, Rangatahi and Zircon.. Tinolioro was the pacemaker from Star of !he Kast, Rangatahi and Tinopono. The Waikato candidate was still ill front as the Held came round the bend for home, with Rangatahi, Marble Cra-. Glenidlc and Flowing Howl the most handy of the others. After clearing Ihe last fence Rangatahi finished on a good length in front of Glenidlc,"with Flowing Cowl, which asain finished fast, in third place, two and a half lengths further back. Tinohoro was fourth, and Marble Crag, Pepin and Tres Ron the next to finish. Mount Maria, Zircon, Bizarro, Tinopono and Star of the East fell. • \ Gilmar, the rider of Mount Maria, and W. R#,vc, the rider of Karamu, had their collarbones broken. Tho York Handicap. Tall timber and King Smock were Hie only scralclungs for the York Handicap, which left 23 runners. Zara'-oza was made, favourite, with Nippy and Lord Star next in request. Master Doon had taken charge at the six furlongs, with Charlady, Matinee, Zartcroza, King Lu and Queen Emerald .following. The leading pair maini ained their positions at, the half-mile, with Queen Arch, Zaragoza, Nippy and King Lu following. Master Doon led into the straight from Charlady, Queen Vrch, Lomint, Zaragoza and Lord Star.

The field bunched at the distance, where 'Danae shot out to win nicely by three-quarters of a length from Oueen Ajch. Passionate finished well a head away third, and then came Quincoma, Lord Star, Charlady and Kinc Lu. The Winter Steeples. Black Cruiser was tho only defection' from the Winter Steeplechase, for which Llewellyn was made favourite from Dick and Eerie. Pendennis went to the front, having Kendal as his nearest attendant. As they went up the hill the last lime the order was Pcdcnnls, Kendal, npyal \bbcy, Dick and Peter Amans. Pendennis. Glenotus and Mahgoloire fell •it the iirst fence on ihc hilltop. Kendal and Royal Abbey fought out the finish, the former winning by three-quarters of a length, with Llewellyn in third place, six lengths awav Then came Peter Amans, Dick, Pittsworth and Birkenclla, with Eerie last. The Campbell Hurdles. Of the seven starters in Hie Campbell Hurdles the King's Guard-Curea-rorm bracket was made favourite. Peter Rosa led through the straight from Black Cruiser, Archibald and 1 ueullent. Along tho back the order was Peter Rosa, Black Cruiser, Archibald and Lucullcnt, Crossing the top \rchibald took charge from Black Cruiser, Lucullcnt and Cureaform. Lucullcnt when going nicely fell at the three 111 longs hurdle, and Archibald turned for home clear of Black Cruiser and Cureaform, and never being troubled in the run home beat Black Cruiser by five lengths. Cureaform was seven lengths away third, with Karamu and King's Guard in that order.

The Visitors' Handicap. The Visitors' Handicap attracted 18 runners, Hoariri being made a firm favourite. Public confidence, was justified, though for a time it seemed that the favourite could not get up. Berinlhia led to the straight, with Chairman, Pinon. Ballymoy 11. and King Mcrv dose up. Turning for home the field bunched and Hoariri, coming awav from the distance, went on lo win by i J lengths from Ballymoy, with Namutcrc a neck away third, t'avo was a good fourth. The Concluding Event.

The t'ilzroy Handicap saw Rowley made a good favouritu i'rurn Nucleus, I'addon, and Gay Comet. When the Held settled down Areheno was in rroni from Rowley, Nucleus, Gay Gomel and Pegaway. Entering Ihe straight Archcno was leading from Nucleus, Paddon and Quinvardia. At the distance Thursby came on the scon'; and won well by a length from Killulc, with Nucleus a good ihird. Piton was fourth.

The grand total for race meetings last season was £2,819,0i7 10s, compared with £2,8(51,525 to date this season. There is still the winter meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club to be held, so that this season's increase is likely to be considerably greater than the £42,477 10s at present shown. AUSTRALIAN RACING. SYDNEY, June 7. The holiday sports and race meetings to-day were held in cold, showery weather. The Australian Jockey Club Hurdle Race resulted : Piratic 1 Castles 2 Jupiter 3 Fourteen started, including Cherry Ripe, the New Zealand horse, which fell when it was leading at tlic four furlongs hurdle. This left Castles in front. Piratic came with a run and led into the straight. He was never afterwards troubled, and won by eight lengths. Time, 4.33. Shortly after the start Palbi fell and broke a leg and had to be, destroyed. FIRST NURSERY HANDICAP, first Division. Aeneid .1 Kiosk : 2 Shanskicl 3 Won by three lengths. Time, 1.16 A.
