Rugby fans in Te Awamutu got their fill of excitement on Saturday afternoon, when Parawera met Te Awamutu in the Waipa senior competition. A great game resulted, Te Awamutu sustaining their first loss of the season. Parawera have shown themselves capable of something good, and all were playing right up to concert pitch. Winter was responsible for a smart piece of work when he' scored the opening try. Fast following up enabled him to break through with 30 yards to co, and one man a yard behind him. He gained on the run, but another opponent cut across at a great rate. Winter just had time to sidestep, and dropped over the line as he was collared. Later Mizen scored nicely. Parewera were expecting him to pass, and instead he hung on to the ball and cut in successfully. Campbell, who was playing well as rover, scored a fine try for Parawera. In the last quarter Te Awamutu seemed to tire, and Parawera won in fine style amidst great cheering. Campbell was in the thick of it right through the game. Dare also shone out well. His pace, considering his weight, | makes him a dangerous scoring man. j Boswell turned out for his old club, I and was playing with all his old-time ! skill. Ilailey followed up well, and was rewarded with two good tries. The j forwards generally worked well, and lasted much belter than usual. Winter was again lo lie' fore, and roughl desperately lo averl defeat, (juin al full back was not up to his best, and also got a had knock in Ihc second hail'. Piroiujia v. United. Pirongia had no difficulty in defeating United, and us usual Krie Bell was their mainstay in the hacks, Schwartzfever giving him ureal assistance. Young was lo the fore with two Iries, and Beichenbach also showed up well.'

For the losers. A. Johnson, as usual, was Ihe backbone of United, who sadly waul a little more weight in their tram. Third Grade. In the third grade Oliaupo defeated Old Boys, who did not seem able lo finish off their attacks. Juniors. Junior matches were abandoned, as the junior rcprescnlativs were at Cambridge So many of last year's juniors are playing senior this year, that the representative team is considerably weaker than usual. They will be at home lo the Manlapoto juniors next Saturday. Parawera seniors also play Pirongia, and if they keep up their form should register another win,
