BANK CLERK SHOT.
SECOND MAN INJURED. ERIGANDS DESPERATE DEED. ESCAPES WITH £174. (Received June 4, 11.30 a.rri.) PERTH, June 4. While two bank clerks were taking money from tho suburb of P.laylands to Perth by train, one of them, J. R. Grevllle,' aged 22, was suddenly shot in the head and abdomen by a third man in tho same compartment. The man then tried to shoot the other clerk, Douglas Favis, but his revolver jambed, so he hit Favis heavily on the head with the butt end of it. When the train arrived at Perth the man jumped out on the wrong side of tho carriage, taking the money amounting to £174 with him. A signa! man chased him for some distance, but ho eventually made his escape. Greviile was sent with ail haste to the hospital, but died an hour later. Favis was only slightly injured.
