Tho following news items are broadcasted from the New York Times building by (he Australian Press Association, and picked up by Mr Shrimpton, jun.:— France’s War Debt to America. WASHINGTON, June 3. By a vote of 23G lo 111 the House of Representatives approved of the war debt agreement negotiated between Lire United Slates and France. The agreement, which provides that France shall pay the United States 0,847,000,000 dollars, over a period of 02 years, now goes on to the Senate. The vote of that body will be withheld pending the approval of the agreement hy the French Parliament. Students Dissatisfied with Prohibition. CHICAGO, June 3. A poll of students in 37 representative American colleges and universities, conducted under the auspices of til e Proportional Representation League and Professor R. L. Mott, political scientist, shows that 22 per cent, of those voting are dissatisfied with the present prohibition situation, and more than 53 per cent, favour tho modification or Hie repeal of the prohibition law. Big Loans From America. NEW YORK, June 3. Reports are current that Erancc will soon obtain a large international loan or credit amounting to possibly 300,000,000 dollars, it is not, however, expected that sucli financing will he arranged until the French debt settlement is ratified. It is announced that the Canadian Minister of Finance intends to ask for authorisation for a loan of 15U.U00,000 dollars.
