RUGBY FOOTBALL.
SOUTH AUCKLAND BEATEN. AUCKLAND, Friday. On a field of mud and slush a combined Auckland leant, virtually 13 representatives outplayed South Auckland at Eden Park yesterday, the final score being 19 to G in the borne team's favour. The wet weather and sodden stale of the ground made inspiring Rugby out of the question. The game resolved itself chiefly into a struggle between two fairly evenlymatched sets of forwards. What gave Auckland victory was the vastly superior combination in the hacks, who were responsible for most of the scores. Hook on Ihe wing played a particularly line game. South Auckland rallied in the last quarter, a pen-alty-goal and a fry resulting. A EENEFST MATCH. DUNEDIN, Fridny. Otago beat North Otago by 21 to G in a match played as a benefit lo Len Williams, the New Zealand Otago representative, who was injured in a club game last season. It is expected laid Williams will receive £230.
