THEATRE BOOKING FEES.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I wish to draw the attention or yourself and the general public to an unfair practice which has arisen in regard to the reserving of seats at the local theatre. The price of admission is advertised as, say, Cs, reserved, plus tax, followed by a notice that the reserved plans are at Messrs Lewis R. Eady and Son's, Ltd. On going to reserve seats one finds that in addition to tho tax, as advertised, there has been surreptitiously added to the price the sum of one penny as a booking fee. The charge of a fee for booking Ls unusual, as most business firms are guile content with the cheap advertisement they get by doing the work for nothing. If the fact that a booking feo was to be charged was mentioned in the advertisement one could not reasonably object to it, but it is well that the publlo should know that where such a fee is not advertised they have a legal right to insist on being supplied with reserved seat tickets, at the price mentioned in the advertisement and without any further charge. —I am, eto., LEX.
