The Daily Herald quotes IY!r Cook in denial of a statement that the miners' leaders had had any communication with the Government since IViay 22. It is explained that the presence of the miners' leaders in London is connocted with thwarting attempts now being marie to import foreign coal. IWr Cook said: "I hope to get the co-operation of transporters hero and abroad to stop the flood of foreign coal." Tho Herald says the strike Is slowly strangling industry. Fifty thousand are Idle in the Black country. Sheffield is hard hit. Forty thousand are. on the dole. Nearly twenty thousand have been thrown out by the shortage.
