DANGEROUS CROSSINGS.

PROPOSALS FOR ABOLITION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The National Highways Board has secured through the Public Works engineers a series of reports on railway crossings throughout Ihe Dominion, with proposals for Ibeir abolition. The proposals are being submitted Lo the Railway Board, which has to decide to what extent it will co-operale with Hie Highways Board in eliminating these dangers. The most urgent works in the South Auckland district are classified as follows: (1) llainillon-Botorua highway, 20 chains east of Tirau post office. Either an overbridgc or underbridge would be possible. (2) liain-ilton-Paeroa. at Mnngaili railway stalion. .(3) Ilamillon-Pacroa highway. A double crossing south of Pacroa railway station could lie eliminated by an overbridgc. (i) Wailoa-Taupo highway, 13 miles from the junction of Hie Ilamllton-Tc Arolia road. This crossing could not he eliminated, but by being moved the visibility could be improved. (a) Wailoa-Taupo highway, 30A miles from Ihe junction of Ihe Hamilton-Tc Arolia road. An overbridgc.
