Mr J. A. Bush, of Marton, is in Hamilton.
Mr R. W. Smith, M.P. for Waimarino, was in Hamilton yesterday. Hon. W. Pember Reeves is spending a few days in Palmerston North.
Messrs J. Punch and G. A. Gamman, of'Auckland, were at the Hamilton Hotel yesterday. Rev. W. Ready and Mrs Ready returned to Hamilton last night from tha Methodist Conference at Dunedin. Hon. R. F. Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs, and his private secretary, Mr Poultou, were in Hamilton to-day. ~ , . Mr Francis E. Baume, chief subeditor of the "Daily Guardian," Sydney arrived in Auckland by the Marama yesterday on a brief business visit. Mr Bernard Fergusson, son of the Governor-General, left this morning ny the Niagara for England, with Sir Francis Bell. Mr. Fergusson is returning to Eton. Dame Clara Butt, Mr Kennedy Rumford Mdlle Antoinette ?.Aussenac, and their manager, Mr E. J. Gravestock, sailed from Wellington for Sydney vestcrday.
Mr J. Brittain, of the Hamilton branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, received word yesterday of his transfer to Wellington, and will leave to-night for bis new appointment.
Sir Francis Bell, Minister of Extcrnal Affairs, who left Auckland yesterday by the Niagara for England, will later proceed to Geneva and will attend the Assembly of the League of Nations as one of the New Zealand delegates. He will also attend the Mandates Commission at Geneva in October. Sir Francis will cease to be a- Minister of the Crown on March 31, his resignation having already been forwarded, but he will relaiu his seat on the executive.
The Hon. .T. A. Young, Minister of Health, visited Drury to-day for the purpose of inspecting a proposed site for a mental hospital to relieve the Auckland institution, which, as the Minister's predecessor, Sir Maui P"o----marc, indicated some time ago, may possibly be abandoned in about ten years. Later in the day Mr Young will Lisped the Knox Home for Incurables,Tamaki, and this evening ho will return to Hamilton.
Mr T. M. Wilford, M.P., accompanied by Mrs Wilford and Miss McLean, left Devonshire leu days ago for Ihe South of France in search of warmth and sunshine (writes a London correspondent). Their programme includes visits to Reims, Avignon, and Carcasonne, on their way south. A number of invitations for social functions have followed Mr Wilford to France, where he. reports the sun to lie shilling, with the result that he is feeling considerably better. Mr and Mrs Wilson were asked to the State opening of Parliament b, the King and Queen with seals in the House of Lords, and lo an important "At Homo" given by Ihe Marchioness of Londonderry on the evening before to meet, Ihe Prime Minister.
