HAMILTON MARKETS.

"" i SEEDS AND PRODUCE. Steady business is reporter! during \ the past week at the Hamilton mar- ! fcets- There is a fair demand for grass seed and manures. A shipment of basic slag is arriving this week and will be riisfribniert immediately on arrival. Bran and pollard are in very short supply while other lines are sellins at late rates. Poultry, Butter and Eggs. There were large entries of poultry at last week's sales. The demand for table birds and pullets was keen./ Prices were: cockerels, 2s 3d to 3s id; heavy hens, 2s lOd to 3s yd; light hens, 2s id to 3s; old hens, Is 8d to Is lOd; ducks, Is Od to 2s Id; white Leghorn pullets, <is 6d to Gs. Butter is retailing at Is 9d for superfine, Is 3d for first grade and Js 7d for second grade.

Ksss are scarce and selling at 2s Gd per dozen retail, the wholesale price bring 2s 2d.

HAMILTON STOCK SALE.

The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company report that in I heir Frankfcon yards yesterday they had a medium entry of cow and heifer beef. Prime cattle showed a slight improvement, while plain and ordinary sold at the previous week's rates. Medium weight prime, cows and heifers £6 12s to £7 4s, lighter £5 10s to £O, light £-i to £4 10s, plain and ordinary £3 to £i, fresh conditioned cows*£2 10s to £3; stores 30s to £2 :ss. A good number of sheep of al! classes were penned, and competition improved to that which existed at late previous sales, and the whole yarding was cleared under the hammer. report:— At Palmerston North sale on lttn Inst there was a very small yarding of all classes of stock. Sheep met with a good demand but the few cattle varded were hard to quit. The bulk of the store cattle entry consisted of cows which sold at late rates. The entry of dairy entile totalled 64 head. There was a good attendance, but the demand was not very hrislc. For the most part, however, vendors met the market and not many passings were made. in the. vealers section small calves of good quality sold well at an advance on late, rates, but the competition for big plain calves was not very animated. Fat pigs met with an active demand and the sale was the dearest this season. With the exception of weaners all classes of store pigs sold freely at late rates. Weaners were from 4s to 5s a head cheaper than a week ago. LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, March 16. At the wool sales there was an average selection and the demand was good at late rates. The New Zealand clip, SAMM, realised up to 15Jd, and averaged 14}d.

At Bradford market there was slightly more business, with prices firm.
