ENTERTAINMENTS.
NEW STRAND AND FRANKTON. Two fine pictures will be screened at the above theatres to-night. Milton Sills will be seen in one of his host productions to dale, "The Knockout." It's a picture that will appeal to everyone, being full of romance and action, with a delightful touch of comedy. The second feature, "Marry Me,” is a comedy of mistaken identity and eggs. 'Pile eggs serve as a background for a delightful romance. The mistaken identify provides all the mirth in the James Gruzo Paramount picture. Tom Mix tits the role of Jim Lassitur iu his latest William Fox production, "Riders of the Purple Sage,” so perfectly that it seems Zanc Grey must have had the cowboy hero in his mind when lie wrote this, his greatest novel. It is a typical Mix role, with ample opportunities for Tony, his wonder horse, to share In the daring deeds of his master. "Riders of the Purple Sage" will he screened for the first time to-night. It is a picturesque romance of the West of forty years ago. Mix plays the role of chivalrous soft-spoken cowboy wfio comes riding forth to avenge his sister,kidnapped by an unscrupulous lawyer- Plan at Jackson's, tobacconist, Theatre entrance, ’phono 1080. SKATING. Special concessions have been made for to-night for ladies at Hie skating rink. This idea has hern adopted by the proprietor throughout New Zealand on the llrst Monday that Hie rinks are open. Only gentlemen assisting ladies will be allowed in the learners’ room.
