WHITIORA SCHOOL.
BEAUTIFYING THE GROUNDS. SUCCESSFUL SALE OF WORK. With characteristic enthusiasm the committee of the Whitiora School, aided by the school staff and an energetic ladies' committee,-held a fete on Saturday, with the object of providing funds lo beautify the school grounds. The function was held at the school, and was a decided success, the gross takings amounting to £lls. There was a large attendance of parents, scholars, and well-wishers of the school. The well-stocked stalls were thronged throughout the day by an eager band of purchasers, and were completely cleared of their wares by the end of the day. Games and competitions of all descriptions captured and held the attention of others. The tearooms did a thriving business, while weight-guessing and any other method by which a few shillings could be raised for such a laudable object was not overlooked. The kiddies enjoyed themselves immensely, there being races for youngsters of all ages. The Hamilton Regimental Band was in attendance, arid enlivened the proceedings with an excellent programme of topical selections.
